Synopsis
16 year-old Poppy (Emma Roberts - NANCY DREW) is a spoilt, selfish teenager wrapped up in her own pampered LA world with numerous hangers on and money to burn on numerous credit cards. But she is becoming increasingly frustrated with her family situation...and relentlessly let's everyone know this.
When her antics test her father (Aiden Quinn) too much, Poppy is whisked off to an English boarding school to become a young lady and enters a totally alien world of rules, stern matrons and mandatory lacrosse. Even worse none of her fellow pupils will tolerate her whims and Poppy begrudging realises she can't manipulate everyone and get everything to go her own way.
Under the watchful eye of headmistress Mrs. Kingsley (Natasha Richardson), Poppy soon finds out her bad behaviour will not get her anywhere and realised her new dorm mates could be the best friends she has ever met... and the key to getting her out of there!
Led by misleadingly sensible Kate (Kimberley Nixon) and eccentric Drippy (Juno Temple), Poppy and her new gang hatch a plan to have her expelled. So, between sneaking out of school to get the hottest outfit for the school dance, playing lacrosse and thwarting head girl and school bully Harriet's (Georgia King) jealous attempts to embarrass and annoy Poppy at every turn, a moment of inspiration leads the girls to think Freddie, the head mistresses son (Alex Pettyfer, filmed in Stormbreaker), will have Poppy packing for L.A. in no time at all!
As Poppy sets her sights on the handsome Freddie, the girls do all they can to make sure he falls for her, as Mrs Kingsley has strictly forbidden any girls at the school getting their hands on him! But before long, Poppy has fallen for hunky Freddie and finds herself caught between longing to go home, her wish to stay with Freddie and her new best friends.
As the excitement mounts, poppy finds herself in front of the whole school, defending her honour and realising where her heart truly lies. Will Harriet succeed in having Poppy sent home and steal Freddie for herself or will Poppy mend her ways, win back her friends and bag the man of her dreams?
