Prakazrel "Pras" Michel (former member of The Fugees) plays Diamond, an ambitious and talented young musician. However life gets complicated when his mother dies and his musical father (Vondie Curtis Hall) comes back into his life. At the same time his girlfriend (Tamala Jones) discovers she's pregnant.
Constantly trying to avoid the violent drug world in which his best childhood friend (Ja Rule) is still involved, Pras focuses on his music, fights to do the right thing, and eventually, finds fame.
Based on GHETTO SUPASTAR, the autobiographical book and album by Pras, TURN IT UP stars Pras and other well-known rappers such as Vondie Curtis Hall and Ja Rule and Fugees lead singer Lauryn Hill.
