Synopsis

Starring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain, THE TREE OF LIFE is written and directed by Terrence Malick. This impressionistic story follows the life journey of a young boy.

TREE OF LIFE is a period piece and the story traces the evolution of an eleven-year-old boy in the Midwest. At first all seems wonderful to the child, however as he experiences his first glimpses of sickness, suffering and death the film darkens. The world, once a thing of glory, becomes a labyrinth as each parent contends for his allegiance.
