Synopsis

Benjamin Barker (Johnny Depp) is on a mission of revenge. Escaping back to London after having lost 15 years of his life imprisoned on the other side of the world, he becomes Sweeney Todd on his return to London and re-inhabits his old barber shop above Mrs Nellie Lovett's pie shop.

His hate is directed to Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman) and accomplice Beadle Bamford (Timothy Spall) who got him out of the way on a trumped up charge with the aim of stealing his wife, Lucy (Laura Michelle Kelly) and his baby daughter Johanna. His determination is strengthened when Mrs Lovett reveals the tragic news that Laura killed herself when Judge Turpin took advantage of her.

Meanwhile a rival, flamboyant Italian barber called Pirelli (Sacha Baron Cohen) threatens to reveal Sweeney's real identity so he kills him. In a predicament about how to dispose of the body, Sweeney gives it to Mrs Lovett who seizes this as an opportunity to boost her ailing business and uses the human flesh as a pie filling.

Now a teenager, Johanna (Jayne Wisener) is imprisoned in the judge's house and on the receiving end of his amorous advances. In the meantime Mrs Lovett's pie sales soar and she dreams of settling down with Sweeney as her husband, but Sweeney is consumed by revenge to the detriment of anyone or anything who gets in his way...

Directed by renowned director Tim Burton, SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET is a dramatic period thriller based on the award winning musical sensation by legendary lyricist and composer Stephen Sondheim.
