Synopsis

From director Marc Foster (FINDING NEVERLAND, MONSTER'S BALL), STRANGER THAN FICTION is an inventive comedy concerning an author, Kay Eiffel (Emma Thompson), of tragic novels who is having trouble finding the right ending for her latest and best book. Her dilemma is how to kill off her main character Harold Crick, and then she'll have finished.

Unbeknown to Kay though Harold Crick is alive and well in the real world but when fiction and reality collide, Harold is facing a dangerous dilemma when he hears the author's narration of his life and comes to the conclusion his life will end tragically. Going out of his mind with worry he consults an eccentric Literature professor, Professor Jules Hilbert (Dustin Hoffman) and seeks the comfort of fiery Ana Pascal (Maggie Gyllenhaal).

Ultimately Harold has to re-write the end of his own life story, but can he do this in time?
