Synopsis

Set in Eugene, Oregon, SPUN follows the exploits of Ross (Jason Schwartzman), a young speed freak who is introduced to his favourite drug's creator, The Cook (Mickey Rourke), through his dealer, Spider Mike (John Leguizamo). This develops into a three-day drugged-out adventure along with Ross' girlfriend Cookie (Mena Suvari), Rourke's girlfriend Nikki (Brittany Murphy) and fellow speed freak Frisbee (Patrick Fugit).

As a man known as The Cook (Mickey Rourke, Once Upon A Time In Mexico) converts massive quantities of non-prescriptive pills into drugs in his Southern Californian motel room, a three-day sleepless odyssey is about to ensue. The Cook and his girlfriend Nikki (Brittany Murphy, Just Married, 8 Mile) depend on college drop-out Ross (Jason Schwartzman, Rushmore) to chauffeur them everywhere, taking them on wild errands from one side of town to the other, absentmindedly leaving Ross' stripper girlfriend handcuffed to his bed.

Ross, in return, gets supplied with illegal substances while his regular dealer, Spider Mike (John Leguizamo, Moulin Rouge, Romeo & Juliet) tries to find his misplaced stash. In his frantic search speed freaks Cookie (Mena Suvari, American Pie, American Beauty) and Frisbee (Patrick Fugit, Almost Famous) stay holed up in the squalor of Spider's trashed pad trying to ride out the absence of meth by hanging out and playing video games.

Director Jonas Akerlund in his feature film directorial debut taps into his music video background (Madonna's Ray of Light) to produce a highly original and twisted piece of film-making. Watch out for some great cameos from music legends including Deborah Harry, Billy Corgan and Rob Halford.

On DVD, SPUN comes with a set of special features to make your head spin, including a 'making of' featurette, deleted scenes, MTV premiere footage, trailers, stills gallery and on-set photos.
