Synopsis

In the third SPIDER-MAN movie Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) has finally achieved stability in his life between his love for Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) and his time consuming superhero persona. He is planning to propose marriage to her, while Mary Jane is about to star in a Broadway musical and life couldn't be any better for either of them. However this balance rapidly diminishes as a storm is brewing on the horizon.

Harry Osborn (James Franco) though has vowed to avenge his father's death and is intent on destroying Parker at any cost. Donning a disguise as the new Goblin, he attacks Parker but ends up seriously injured in the ensuing fight with Spider-Man and loses his memory. Consequently any thoughts of revenge towards Spider-Man are erased and Harry is friendly with Parker once again.

Enter Sandman... Flint Marko (Thomas Haden Church) escapes from prison and while attempting to avoid the police, he trespasses onto a testing facility, where he gets caught up in an experiment that breaks down his molecular structure and his cells become mixed in with sand. He launches into a series of heists, robbing banks and armoured cars, designed to make his family financially secure. As Spider-Man successfully outmanoeuvres Sandman, Sandman is now looking for a willing partner-in-crime to help bring about the defeat Spider-Man.

Suddenly a meteorite falls to Earth and a crawling black substance insidiously attaches itself to Spider-Man, turning his suit a menacing black. This enhances not only his powers but alters his personality as well, as Parker keeps the new black suit on under his clothes. Becoming increasingly humiliating and hurtful towards those he loves, especially Mary Jane, she dumps him. Parker now turns his attentions to rival photographer Eddie Brock's (Topher Grace) girlfriend, Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard).

Aware that his behaviour is hurting others but feeling powerless to return to his normal caring self, Spider-Man's life is spinning dangerously out of control...

Based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, SPIDER-MAN 3 has been adapted for the screen by Sam Raimi and Ivan Raimi. Sam Raimi directs his third SPIDER-MAN film.

DVD EXTRAS

Spider-Man 3 will be available in several versions for fans to collect, including a trade wide 2-disc Special Edition release, UMDTM video and a 6-disc DVD release which will include 2-disc versions of all three Spider-Man films on DVD. Also available is the limited edition 6-disc deluxe box set which includes Spider-Man 1, Spider-Man 2.1 (the extended cut) and Spider-Man 3 plus a 52 page Marvel mega-guide as well as premium collectible packaging. In addition, Spider-Man 3 will also be available as a 2-disc release on high definition Blu-ray format as well as making up one third of the 4-disc Spider-Man High Definition Trilogy which also includes Spider-Man and the extended cut version of Spider-Man 2.
