Synopsis

Against the backdrop of strikes that leads to power cuts, and hooligan aggro on the football terraces, Joe McCain (Martin Compston), is bored with his life that’s going nowhere. With the arrival of blonde, extrovert hairstylist, Jane (Nichola Burley), Joe’s life suddenly sparkles comes alive as he gets caught up in a whole new world of sound, movement and all-night dancing at The Wigan Casino �" the home of Northern Soul.

The he meets Mandy (Felicity Jones), a cute and spunky artist, who encourages Joe to become the cool “soul boy” he wants to be. When Mandy falls for Joe, a love triangle develops and Joe has to decide who he really wants in his life.
