Synopsis

Set in the Welsh Valleys in 1911 this period love story is set against the racial prejudice and industrial unrest in the community when a pit is closed. Solomon (Ioan Gruffudd), a Jewish door-door salesman and Gaenor (Nia Roberts) from a strict religious family embark on an illicit love affair. Solomon keeps quiet about his Jewish background and Gaenor ends up pregnant. The couple decide to elope but get embroiled in the community violence that flairs up. Everything and everyone seems to be against them.
