Synopsis

Award-winning director Cary Fukunaga makes his directorial feature debut with SIN NOMBRE, a dramatic, epic thriller about immigrants making the arduous trip to the US border. Showcased at Sundance Film Festival 2009 where it had its world premiere, Cary Fukunaga was the winner of the US directing prize with his debut feature.

Offered the chance of making a new life in America, Sayra (Paulina Gaytan), a beautiful young Honduran woman, joins her father and uncle on a journey across the Latin American countryside en route to the United States.

While travelling through Mexico, she comes into contact with a teenage gang member, El Casper (Edgar Flores). He is on the run and trying to outwit his unforgiving former associates. He is also seeking a new life in an attempt at preventing his violent past from catching up with him.

Joining forces they must now both elude their assailants and the authorities, relying on faith and a newfound trust that steadily grows between them if they are to survive their increasingly perilous journey towards the hope of new lives.
