Synopsis

Robert Duvall, Michael Keaton and ex-Rangers superstar Ally McCoist combine Hollywood flair and Scottish grit for this uplifting tale of redemption and glory.

The Knockies, managed by Gordon McLeod (Duvall), are a second-rate Scottish football club in decline. Against Gordon's wishes, American owner Peter Cameron (Keaton) plans a move to Ireland unless the situation improves. To rub salt in his wounds, Peter enlists the services of ageing superstar Jackie McQuillan (McCoist) to revive the club's fortunes. Jackie's boozing and womanising had ruined not only his career but his marriage to Gordon's daughter Kate. Adding fuel to Gordon's fire, Jackie's return sees him and Kate get back together.

Jackie puts the spark back in the team, scoring freely as they progress through the Scottish Cup. Off the pitch though, he remains the same, drinking and skirt-chasing to the anger of his coach and team mates. Despite this, the Knockies continue to make amazing progress to Final and a match up with Scotland's premier team, Glasgow Rangers.

In a teriffic finale, old scores on and off the pitch are about to be settled for good.

A SHOT AT GLORY is a beautifully crafted film in the tradition of ROCKY. Co-produced by Duvall and directed by Michael Corrente, the film is lovingly shot by veteran cinematographer Alex Thompson, BSC.
