Synopsis

Mirabelle Butterfield (Claire Danes) is a shopgirl, languishing behind the glove counter in the Beverly Hills' Saks Fifth Avenue department store, while nurturing dreams of being an artist.

Ray Porter (Steve Martin) is a successful entrepreneur on the move, who has chosen the singular life, unencumbered with commitments.

Jeremy (Jason Schwartzman) is a young man, who takes his first risky step off the couch and into the world -- through the music amplifier business, a couple of self-help books and a cross-country tour in a rock 'n' roll bus.

And in this three-sided microcosm of contemporary Los Angeles life, based on Martin's best-selling novella, these people are talking, laughing and, most importantly, learning about love.

Steve Martin's novella-turned-screenplay, SHOPGIRL, stars Martin, Claire Danes and Jason Schwartzman, and re-teams Martin with Touchstone Pictures and Hyde Park Entertainment after their highly successful outing with BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE and is directed by Anand Tucker (HILARY AND JACKIE).
