Synopsis

Love needs no translation as Hayden Panettiere (Heroes) stars in the award-winning romantic comedy SHANGHAI KISS.

Ken Leung (X Men: The Last Stand), Kelly Hu (ER, The Scorpion King), Hayden Panettiere (Heroes) and Joel David Moore (Dodgeball) star in this smart and sexy comedy about discovering who you are, finding where you belong and sacrificing anything for 'the one'.

Liam (Leung) is a struggling actor wasting his time picking up beautiful, plastic girls in hip Hollywood bars with his buddy, Joe (Moore), a writer who hasn't written a damn thing. The closest thing to an emotional connection in Liam's life is a flirtatious friendship with 16 year old Adelaide (Panettiere), a precocious high school girl who is actually more mature than him.

When Liam learns he has inherited his grandmother's home in Shanghai, China, he travels to the bright and beautiful city and discovers a profound connection to his family legacy. He meets a sophisticated Chinese woman named Micki (Hu) and finds himself instantly infatuated with her. Caught between two worlds (and two women), Liam must now navigate the complicated desires of his heart, and find out who he really is.

Shanghai has never looked as luminous as it does through cinematographer Alex Buono's lens as the film delves into territory left unexplored by Lost in Translation. Panettiere won critical acclaim for her performance at the Newport Beach Film Festival and Ken Leung won the Breakout Performance award at the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival.
