Synopsis

Nick Wells (Robert De Niro), a meticulous, thorough, professional and highly successful international thief is ready to retire from crime. He wants to settle down with his girlfriend Diane (Angela Bassett) and focus his energy and time on running his legitimate business, a Montreal jazz club.

However Max Baron (Marlon Brando), his friend, fence and financial partner has other plans for him and even manages to persuade him to break two of his most important rules - always work alone and never operate in the city where you live. Max teams him up with Jackie Teller (Edward Norton), a young, aggressive and talented thief but he needs Nicks safe-cracking skills to make his first big score!
