Synopsis

Based on the book Savage Grace by Natalie Booth, the film spans 1946 to 1972 and unfolds in six acts. SAVAGE GRACE is based on a true story which ends when Barbara Daly Baekeland was found murdered in a luxury London flat on 17 November 1972.

This dramatization follows the beautiful and enigmatic Barbara Daly (Julianne Moore) who rose from relative obscurity to a life of social distinction and luxury when she married the wealthy Bakelite plastics heir, Brooks Baekeland (Stephen Dillane). The birth of the couple's only child, Tony, rocks the uneasy balance in this marriage of extremes.

Brooks Baekeland only sees Tony as a failure so consequently he turns to his mother as he grows older becoming increasingly close to his lonely mother. Thus the seeds for a tragedy of spectacular decadence are sown.
