Synopsis

RUSSIAN DOLL is a romantic comedy exploring the trials of finding a faithful lover. Harvey (Hugo Weaving) is a morose private detective based in Sydney, Australia, whose cases are usually concerned with marital infidelities. Imagine his shock when he discovers his girlfriend is cheating on him. His best friends who are married, Ethan (David Wenham) and Miriam (Rebecca Frith), persuade him that life does exist beyond this setback and that he will find another girlfriend.

What he doesn't know is that Ethan has a mistress and is having an affair with a lively Russian girl Katia, (Natalia Novikova) who is facing deportation. Ethan desperate to keep her in Australia talks Harvey into marrying Katia. With Harvey now embroiled in a fake marriage he struggles to live with Katia in this new arrangement and against the odds they find they are more compatible with each other that they thought.
