Synopsis

Directed by Roger Avary (PULP FICTION, KILLING ZOE) and based on the Brett Easton Ellis novel, THE RULES OF ATTRACTION tells the story of Sean Bateman, the younger brother of Patrick Bateman (AMERICAN PSYCHO). Against a background of 'Dressed to get screwed parties', drugs, casual sex and student excess we follow Sean (James Van Der Beek, VARSITY BLUES, DAWSON'S CREEK) through the doors of a New England college in the early 90's.

The film takes a satirical look at an emerging love triangle between Sean, the bit part campus drug dealer with only a passing association with his emotions, Paul Owen (Ian Somerhalder, LIFE AS A HOUSE), the intelligent and beautiful bisexual, and his ex-girlfriend Lauren (Shannyn Sossamon, A KNIGHT'S TALE, 40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS) the aloof uber-cool object of many affections.
