Synopsis
Paris 2054. The city is awash in holograms and projection screens relentlessly buzzing and flashing with advertisements. Bislane Tassueiv (Catherine McCormack), a beautiful and rebellious 27 year-old from Eastern Europe, notices her equally beautiful younger sister Ilona, a brilliant geneticist and researcher, in a the same nightclub. Bislane, who has never seen her workaholic sister in this kind of place, is sure that Ilona (Romola Garai) has come to check up on her, but to her surprise, Ilona is meeting Dimitri (Breffni McKenna), a tough drug dealer, who, Bislane knows.
Later that same night, Ilona while on her way to work is violently kidnapped in the park which surrounds the clinic where she works. Her car, although clocked when it entered the clinic by police CCTV, has also disappeared.
36 year-old Bartholomew Karas (Daniel Craig), a rough-edged cop with a reputation and a past, is wrapping up another kidnapping case in a shower of bone-cracking blows and splashes of gunfire. He receives an urgent call from the DA's office. Paul Dellenbach (Jonathan Pryce), the head of the omnipresent super-corporation Avalon, wants Karas on the case to find their star researcher, Ilona. Karas gets the lowdown from Assistant DA Reparaz (Nina Sosanya), and sets to work on the case.
