Synopsis

RELATIVE VALUES is a screen adaptation of a Noel Coward novel. Nigel, the Earl of Marshwood (Edward Atherton) is too busy being in love with a beautiful Hollywood star Miranda Frayle (Jeanne Tripplehorn) to realise the concern this is causing his mother Felicity, the Countess of Marshwood (Julie Andrews) and Miranda's former lover Hollywood star Don Lucas (William Baldwin).

Felicity is horrified when her personal maid Moxie (Sophie Thompson) reveals Miranda is her long lost sister. Felicity with the help of her nephew Peter (Colin Firth) and Crestwell her butler (Stephen Fry) disguise who Moxie really is. Thus chaos descends on Marshwood with Nigel and Miranda's arrival, the lies Miranda reveals of her past not realising her sister is listening, and a drunken Don arrives at Marshwood's doorstep in hot pursuit of Miranda.
