Synopsis

The dark secrets of the Kremlin unravel in this detailed documentary investigation of the former KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko who was poisoned in London in 2006.

Litvinenko's secret service career began in the former Soviet Union where he worked as an operative detective in the KGB but it wasn't until he was ordered to assassinate an oligarch that his rebellion began. He staged a press conference in Moscow where he accused the Russian secret service of misdeeds. Within days he was under investigation and within weeks, in prison. Following his release he was urged to flee Russia and ended up in London.

Director Andrei Nekrasov had full access to Litvinenko from his arrival in London and Rebellion is a documentary told in Litvinenko's own words including interviews with his widow, friends and alleged killers.
