Synopsis (2007)

A new 35mm print of Martin Scorsese's powerhouse biopic, RAGING BULL stars Robert De Niro as the physically and emotionally damaging boxing champion Jake LaMotta. Scorsese's film traces his rise and decline in and out of the ring, as his appetite for self-destruction destroys his relationships with his wife (played by Cathy Moriarty) and brother (Joe Pesci). With thrilling filmmaking, which is both vivid and unremitting in its uncompromising brutality and honesty, the fight sequences are famed for their realism and pack a bigger punch on the big screen.

Synopsis

Shot in black and white, director Martin Scorsese tells the story of middleweight boxer Jake La Motta (Robert De Niro). His dogged determination helps him to succeed in getting to the top and he falls in love and marries Vickie (Cathy Moriarty), a girl from his own Bronx neighbourhood. Everything starts to go wrong though as Jake's inability to express his feelings surface and erupt in the ring and eventually overshadow his whole life from his dealings with his brother, Joey (Joe Pesci), to his irrational jealousy of his wife. Spinning out of control his demise costs him his title, his wife, and his relationship with Joey.
