Synopsis
As a new generation prepare to experience Wolfgang Peterson's remake in cinemas May/June 2006, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment proudly presents the original disaster epic THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE as a two disc Special Edition DVD on 29th May 2006.
Produced by 'master of disaster' Irwin Allen (THE TOWERING INFERNO, VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA) and directed by Ronald Neame, the Academy Award® winning THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE features an all star cast led by Gene Hackman (THE FRENCH CONNECTION, THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS).
At midnight on New Year's Eve, luxury cruise liner the S.S.Poseidon is en route from New York to Athens. When a tidal wave caused by an underwater earthquake literally turns the ship upside-down, a small band of survivors led by Reverend Frank Scott (Hackman) travel towards the ship's hull in an attempt to reach safety. Encountering such hazardous obstacles as steam, fire, and rising water, their perilous journey is a heart-pumping race against time, before either they drown or the vessel sinks!
This two disc Special Edition DVD includes audio commentaries by the director and cast members Pamela Sue Martin, Stella Stevens and Carol Lynley, a three part 'Conversation with Ronald Neame', storyboard comparisons, vintage promotional materials and stills galleries. In addition, there's eight fascinating featurettes including the interactive 'Follow the Escape' and 'AMC Backstory: The Poseidon Adventure'.
Available for the first time as a Special Edition DVD, the original THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE is full of suspense, drama and special effects - a must-see on DVD!
