Premiering at 2009 Sundance Film Festival, writer/director Daniel Barnz in his feature debut, reworks the famous classic Alice in Wonderland. In this version a young schoolgirl, Phoebe Lichten (Elle Fanning), is cast as Alice in the lead role of her school production - Alice in Wonderland.

Phoebe's natural acting talent is discovered much to her drama teacher, Miss Dodger's (Patricia Clarkson) delight. However when Phoebe increasing descends into the realms of her imagination, much like Alice herself, it begins to dawn on Phoebe's parents, Hillary (Felicity Huffman) and Peter (Bill Pullman) that their daughter's behaviour is becoming more and more abstract.

Will Phoebe fall through the 'looking glass' or can her parents save her?
