Synopsis
19 year-old mixed-race Keith Perry (Leyland O'Brien) wants a closer relationship with his Jewish grandfather Izzie Goldberg (Ron Moody), who's a resident of Paradise Grove, a Jewish old people's home in north London. Unfortunately Izzie refuses to accept the fact that his grandson is half black.
While Keith is searching for his Jewish roots, Keith's mother Dee (Rula Lenska) is too busy running her retirement home (Paradise Grove), reliving the Sixties and sleeping with the local doctor to have much time left for her own son.
The film turns darker as Izzie's health worsens. Unable to face the grim reality of old age, he rapidly declines and for the first time in his life Keith finds that his grandfather needs his help. But is he up to providing it?
PARADISE GROVE is the first cinema film by award-winning writer-director Charles Harris.
