Synopsis
The Hong Kong Police Force launch an operation, codenamed "One Nite in Mongkok", mainly to fight crimes in Mongkok.
Mongkok is a prosperous commercial district and the most densely populated place in the world. It is a hotbed of crime since there are many kinds of entertainment premises. In Mongkok, there are two main triads and their leaders are Tim and Nine respectively. Recently, the two triads have conflicts on selling pirated goods, Tim's son died in one of the clashes. Since then, the two triads are mutually exclusive and they initiate a number of killings. Tim commissions Luk (the "middleman") to hire "Rat" (a cross-border killer) to kill Nine.
Miao, the Chief Inspector of Criminal Intelligence Bureau, got the news from an informer, thus, the senior officers start surveillance on the two triads and try to settle their disputes.
The cross-border killer is actually a farm boy called Roy. He is simple and has a sense of justice. His comes to Hong Kong not for being a killer, but to look for his fiance Sue, he has not heard from her since she went to Hong Kong. During that time, Roy meets a girl named Dan, she has been lured to work as a prostitute in Hong Kong. Roy has once saved Dan from the bullying by gangsters and the two thus become friends.
Miao has been informed that Luk hired a killer for Tim, thus Miao keeps a watchful eye over Luk. Roy is soon tracked by the police and needs to hide from place to place. Under flashy neon lights, Roy and Dan are rummaged around in Mongkok by police and gangsters. Who will find them first, lawful force or lawless one?
