Synopsis
A BAFTA Winner for Best British Film in 1947, ODD MAN OUT is being re-released as a 60th anniversary re-issue on restored digital and new 35mm prints. It was shot in black and white.
Terrorist Johnny McQueen (James Mason) has just escaped from prison. The idealist leader of an illegal organisation he plans a robbery in Belfast which goes badly wrong. Shot and wounded his getaway driver Pat (Cyril Cusack) then panics and driving recklessly Johnny falls onto the road. On the run the police launch a manhunt through the city streets and he is at the mercy of other contacts mostly in the underworld to aid his escape by ship. His faithful girlfriend Kathleen Sullivan (Kathleen Ryan) and lone friend Dennis (Robert Beatty) also come to his assistance, but are being watched by the police.
The film covers a time period of just 8 hours, from 4 in the afternoon when it all starts to midnight and an unexpected dramatic climax.
