Synopsis

Rachel Armstrong (Kate Beckinsale) is youn, ambitious and married to a supportive husband, Ray (David Schwimmer). An investigative reporter for the Capitol Sun-Times, a major Washington, DC daily, Rachel writes an article, which is published with the full support of her editor. Bonnie Benjamin (Angela Bassett), exposing the identity of covert CIA agent Erica Van Doren (Vera Farmiga).

The resulting furore from the government puts intense pressure on Rachel to reveal her source In court. Defying special prosecutor, Patton Dubois (Matt Dillon), who attempts to extract her source, US District Court Judge Hall (Floyd Abrams) cites her with contempt of court. He confines her to jail in the DC Detention Center, telling Rachel that only she has the power to free herself.

NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH follows the hardships Rachel experiences behind bars as well as the legal battle played out by her attorney, Albert Burnside (Alan Alda), as he pleads her case on First Amendment grounds - a case he argues all the way to the US Supreme Court.

But only one question remains on everyone's lips. Who is the source and why is Rebecca so committed to sacrificing so much to protect it?

Written and directed by Rod Lurie (THE CONTENDER), the film was shot on location in Memphis, Tennessee.
