Synopsis

Award winning actress, Pauline Collins, stars with her real-life husband John Alderton in this bittersweet comedy drama about Thelma Caldicot, a highly intelligent but downtrodden housewife whose bully of a husband dies in a freak accident. After a lifetime of putting others before her, she is finally looking forward to her independence, but her plans are thwarted when her greedy, overly ambitious son decides to put her into an old people's home instead, with some surprising results.

Rather than remain the timid mouse that everyone has always thought her to be she suddenly finds her voice and is finally able to express her true self when she leads the residents of the home in a rebellion against their daily regime of pills and cabbage soup.

Based on a book by Vernon Coleman it has been adapted for screen by Malcolm Stone.
