Synopsis
A day in the life of a busy New York mum, Eliza Welsh (Uma Thurman), it's her six year-old's birthday today. Up early she sets about organising everything for her family and decides to enter a contest run by an upscale parenting magazine. All she has to do is write 500 words answering the deceptively simple question, "What Does Motherhood Mean to Me?"
In the process of trying to keep to her hectic daily routine, Eliza rediscovers her own voice and realizes what is truly valuable in her life.
MOTHERHOOD, shot entirely on location in New York's West Village, stars Uma Thurman, Anthony Edwards and Minnie Driver in this bittersweet comedy that distills the dilemmas of the maternal state (marriage, work, self, and not necessarily in that order) into the trials and tribulations of one pivotal day. From writer/director Katherine Dieckmann, the acclaimed filmmaker of DIGGERS and A GOOD BABY.
