Synopsis

John Simm (HUMAN TRAFFIC) plays a young librarian, Frank, who becomes infatuated with a mysterious stranger called Miranda, played by Christina Ricci (THE OPPOSITE OF SEX, SLEEPY HOLLOW). What starts as a romantic daydream leads him into a chaotic world of confidence tricksters, sadistic villains, and amazing sex where nothing is what it seems. Miranda, Frank discovers, has three identities: dancer, con woman and dominatrix; but which one of these temptresses is the real her?

Behind the romance lurks a shady thriller. The venerable John Hurt plays an elegant schemer, Christian, who launches Miranda on her trail of deception. Kyle MacLachlan (BLUE VELVET, ME WITHOUT YOU) occupies another dark corner as Nailor, a multimillionaire whose weird fantasies are fuelled by the assertive Miranda. Sandwiched between these two amoral titans what hope is there for Frank? And can he possibly get the girl?

MIRANDA is a story of love, sex and disguises. Starring Christina Ricci, Kyle MacLachlan, John Hurt, and fast-rising British actor John Simm, MIRANDA marks the feature debut of the award-winning television director Marc Munden (VANITY FAIR, TOUCHING EVIL). It is written by one of Britain's most provocative scriptwriters, Rob Young (THE MAN WITH THE ABSURDLY LARGE PENIS, THE SHOE SHOP OF DESIRE), and produced by Laurence Bowen, co-founder of Feelgood Fiction (THE HELLO GIRLS, STONE SCISSORS PAPER & METROSEXUALITY). The film was shot in Scarborough, Yorkshire and London as well as at Pinewood Studios, England.
