Synopsis

Written, produced and directed by Bahman Ghobadi, MAROONED IN IRAQ follows the story of three Kurdish Iranians, who are all musicians and cross the border into Kurdish Iraq at their peril, towards the end of the war between Iran and Iraq. Accompanied by his two sons, the aging father is searching for his wife, Hanareh, a talented singer and in spite of the fact she ran away with his best friend, he is concerned for her safety and fears she may be in danger.
