Synopsis
At the heart of this Woodfall production lies award-winning performance by
Tom Courtenay plays a rebellious young man who's chosen to represent his reform school in a long distance race. As he trains, he recalls events from his life and was awarded a BAFTA for his performance. Based on a novel by Alan Sillitoe, who also wrote the screenplay, Yorkshire-born director Tony Richardson created a powerful drama.
