Synopsis

A tale of old rivalries in an urban and contemporary London setting, LIFE & LYRICS is an original story with classical overtones. It is a romance set against a dramatic background, laced with humour and underscored by the hip-hop beats that are the pulse for a generation.

LIFE & LYRICS is set on the streets and in the clubs of south London, and features a hip-hop soundtrack against which the characters live their lives. It is music that expresses their hopes and fears and which may ultimately offer an escape from streets which, if not exactly mean, do hold some dangers for the unwary.

DJ Danny 'D-Biz' Lewis (Ashley Walters) heads The Motion Crew, and surprises everyone - himself included - when he discovers he is falling for Carmen (Louise Rose) who is the singer for their most hated rival outfit - the violent and arrogant Hard Cash Crew. It seems unavoidable that both crews will face each other in the rap battle finals of the prestigious Mic Masters competition. For Danny this will offer him a final chance to beat his rivals and make it to the big time.

However his relationship with Carmen has set in motion a devastating chain of events that will ultimately decide the fate of everyone involved...
