Synopsis

New York jingle writer Harvey Shine (Dustin Hoffman) is under pressure at work from his boss Marvin (Richard Schiff) because of his unproductivity. With his job on the line and despite facing an important meeting at work on Monday, he flies to London for the weekend as it's his daughter's (Liane Balaban) wedding

Devastated that Susan asked her stepfather Brian (James Brolin) to give her away, he leaves for the airport before the reception but misses his flight and his job when hs phones his boss to explain.

Retreating to the airport bar he meets Kate, a career orientated civil servant in the employ of theOffice of National Statistics, whose work is her life apart from the occasional, non-productive blind dates followed by embarrasing phone calls from her smothering mother Maggie (Eileen Atkins).

Harvey begins to find himself energised and attracted to Kate as a growing connection unexpectedly blossoms.
