Matiss Zelcs (Egons Dombrovskis) is racked with guilt when one night he is a witness to a woman taking her own life by jumping off a bridge. When he reports this to the police their initial action fails to locate a body and they dismiss any further action on the case. Taking matters into his own hands and feeling guilty he hadn't try to dissuade the desperate woman originally, he feels compelled to instigate his own investigation with the intention of trying to find out who the mystery woman was to ultimate ease his own conscience.
