Synopsis

"Can't we just kick it old school? I could just put the baby in a basket and send it your way. You know, like Moses in the reeds." Juno

Juno MacGuff (Ellen Page) is a cool 16 year-old with a sharp line in sardonic wit, but beneath her confident exterior is a teenage girl trying to figure it all out. After seducing her charmingly unassuming classmate Bleeker (Michael Cera) she finds herself pregnant. Along with best friend Leah (Olivia Thirlby), and with the support of her father (J.K. Simmons) and stepmother (Allison Janney) she hatches a plan to find the unborn baby the perfect set of parents and sets her sights on Mark and Vanessa Loring (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner), a seemingly faultless suburban couple.

Directed by Jason Reitman (THANK YOU FOR SMOKING) from a script by Diablo Cody ("Pussy Ranch" blogger and author of the memoir Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper), JUNO brings together a colourful supporting cast: Michael Cera starred in this summer's hit, SUBERBAD and first made his name in TV's ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, playing the son of his JUNO co-star Jason Bateman; for his part, Bateman is re-teamed here with Jennifer Garner, with whom he can currently be seen in THE KINGDOM; J K Simmons is best-known as Peter Parker's editor in the SPIDER-MAN films and his screen wife, Allison Janney, most recently seen in HAIRSPRAY, has won numerous awards and nominations for her role as CJ in THE WEST WING.
