Synopsis
JINDABYNE is the award-winning follow up film to director Ray Lawrence's global masterpiece LANTANA and stars Academy Award nominee Laura Linney and Gabriel Byrne. JINDABYNE is based on the hugely acclaimed short story of author Raymond Carvers entitled 'So Much Water So Close To Home'.
Set in the isolated Australian Outback, a group of men on a fishing trip discover a girl's naked body in the river. The men decide to delay reporting their gruesome find until their trip is completed, but this decision precipitates tensions within their home town of Jindabyne, and the wider Aboriginal community but most notably between one of the party, Stewart (Gabriel Byrne) and his American wife Claire (Laura Linney). What follows is a compelling and complex tale of doubt, anger, shame and responsibility, and a profound insight into how men and women respond differently to tragic events.
