Synopsis

Somewhere in the vast remoteness of northern Russia, a strange monk resides in a small Russian Orthodox monastery. The other monks in the order are somewhat confused by his odd behaviour. However, visitors to the island believe that this particular monk has psychic powers to heal, exorcise demons and foretell the future.

In contrast to these rumours, he feels his life has been forever tainted by a sin he committed as a youth and considers himself unworthy.
