Synopsis

India's rising stars and established talent come together for IQBAL, a life affirming tale of family, heartache and triumph over adversity. For Iqbal (Shreyas Talpade) cricket is his passion and escape from life's banality, he harbours just one dream - to bowl for his national team. As Iqbal strives to make his dreams come true, his desire to succeed is hindered by his father's insistence he give up his dream and support his family on their farm. However encouraged by his little sister and trained by Mohit (Naseeruddin Shah), a former gifted cricketer who has long since given up on his own dreams and who finds his only escape in the bottom of a glass, Iqbal slowly finds his way to his one and only dream.

What follows is a momentous journey of bravery, pride and human achievement as Iqbal and Mohit embark on a truly inspirational journey. They find in each other a love of cricket and inspiration to be the best they can be. A cricket movie not just about cricket, but the undying spirit to conquer against all the odds... Starring Shreyas Talpade as the eponymous character alongside veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah and Girish Karnad with Shweta Prasad, Pratiksha Lonkar and Yateen Karyekar IQBAL is written and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and produced by Subhash Ghai.

IQBAL won the top honors at 2005's Zee Cine Awards as well as receiving a wealth of nominations at the Screen Awards and Apsara Awards.
