Synopsis

On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was shot at 12:30 pm as his motorcade drove through downtown Dallas. The official investigation concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted as the lone gunman and fired three shots from the six floor of the Texas School Book Depository. Two bullets hit the President: the first one in the neck and the second and fatal one in the head.

As the President's dead body was flown to Washington DC, Vice President Lyndon B Johnson was sworn in as head of state. Two days after the assassination, nightclub owner Jack Ruby - in an act of patriotism - shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald in a Dallas police station.

Speculations regarding a conspiracy behind the assassination of the chief executive became rampant once Jack Ruby shot Oswald in front of the world. The Warren Commission, headed by Senator Earl Warren, was formed to investigate the assassination and possibility of a conspiracy behind it, but concluded that there was no evidence that anyone other than Oswald was involved in the actual shooting and that there was no evidence of a conspiracy.

Following the assassination of president Kennedy, many marginally related individuals died in suspicious circumstances. Starting with Lee Harvey Oswald's murder by Jack Ruby in a Dallas police station, many of those who witnessed the presidential killing, were somehow linked to a web of conspiracies surrounding it, or were mentioned in the Warren Report and have conveniently met untimely ends. Are these deaths, coincidental, or are they yet another sign pointing at a vast conspiracy?

In Neil Burger's debut feature, both written and directed by him, INTERVIEW WITH THE ASSASSIN throws yet more mystery onto the assassination of President J F Kennedy. Almost 40 years later an ex-marine named Walter Ohlinger has come forward with a startling claim!
