Synopsis
Indiana Jones is back in a new globe-trotting adventure, INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL. Directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Harrison Ford as Indy, INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL features an outstanding cast, including Oscar® winner Cate Blanchett, Karen Allen, Ray Winstone, John Hurt, Oscar® winner Jim Broadbent and Shia LaBeouf. Frank Marshall is the film's producer. George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy are the executive producers. The screenplay is by David Koepp from a story by George Lucas.
Opening in the desert Southwest during a close scrape with the Russians in 1957 in the grip of the Cold War, Indy and fellow adventurer Mac (Ray Winstone) barely manage to outwit the Soviet agents pursuing them but they pull off a daring escape.
Back home, Indy (now Professor Jones) is still causing controversy and the government is pressurising the university to fire him. Friend and close ally Dean Charles Stanforth (Jim Broadbent) warns Indy and on his way out he meets young rebel, Mutt (Shia LaBeouf) who harbours a grudge but also has a proposition for Indy: "If he'll help Mutt on a mission with deeply personal stakes, Indy might well make one of the most spectacular finds in history - the Crystal Skull of Akator, a legendary object of fascination, superstition and fear."
Accepting this challenge, Indy teams up with Mutt and as they head out into a remote region of Peru it quickly becomes apparent they're not the only ones searching for the Skull of Akator. Hot on the trail are a crack military team of Soviet agents under the control of Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett), who will spare no expense to get her hands on the power the Crystal Skull can unleash on the world.
The two-disc Special Edition DVD and Blu-ray presentations feature hours of new content that opens up the world of Indiana Jones as never before through in-depth footage of Steven Spielberg and his cast and crew at work. From Shia LaBeouf's training to become a master swordsman to Harrison Ford's reunion with his fedora, whip...and Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood, viewers can watch the magic of cinema's greatest action-adventure hero returning to the big screen, as well as the extraordinary work of the legendary artists who have brought Indy's latest thrilling adventure to life.
