Synopsis

Directed by Allen Coulter (THE SOPRANOS, SEX IN THE CITY TV series) in his feature directorial debut, HOLLYWOODLAND is a uniquely compelling exploration of fame and identity. The drama, inspired by one of Hollywood's most infamous real-life mysteries, follows a 1950s private detective, Louis Simo (Academy Award winner Adrien Brody).

June 16, 1959. The glamour of Tinseltown permanently fades for actor George Reeves (Academy Award winner Ben Affleck), the heroic Man of Steel on TV's Adventures of Superman, as the actor dies in his Hollywood Hills home - shot by a single bullet. Reeves leaves behind a legion of fans in shock from his sudden death as well as fiancee Leonore Lemmon (Robin Tunney) and mother Helen Bessolo (Lois Smith).

When Reeves murder case is closed by the Los Angeles Police Department, his mother hires Louis Simo who uncovers the torrid affair George Reeves had with Toni Mannix (Diane Lane), the wife of Eddie Mannix, MGM studio executive (Bob Hoskins), which might hold the key to the truth. But truth and justice are not so easily found in Hollywood...

Simo's resulting investigation uncovers unexpected connections to his own life as the case turns ever more personal. Simo pursues dangerous and elusive leads in both high and low places and, in trying to turn up the heat, risks getting burned.
