Synopsis

Tinle, the village chieftain and an experienced herdsman, argues with Karma, a young boy who will most likely replace him in the future since his eldest son is now dead, over who is to take the yak caravan through the mountains on the annual trek to trade their cargo of salt for grain. Against the decision of the village elders Tinle leads the yak caravan refusing to relinquish control so Karma leads another yak caravan on a different route but they meet head-on high up in the mountains on a pass at 15 000ft. HIMALAYA is the story of the rivalry between these two and includes breathtaking mountain scenery where the film was shot on location in the Himalayas.
