Synopsis

Golden Globe-nominee Demi Moore (CHARLIE'S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE, GI JANE, DISCLOSURE, INDECENT PROPOSAL, GHOST) is joined by rising British actor Hans Matheson (the acclaimed mini-series DOCTOR ZHIVAGO, STILL CRAZY, LES MISERABLES) in HALF LIGHT, a romantic thriller with a supernatural twist, written and directed by Craig Rosenberg (HOTEL DE LOVE), which commenced eight weeks of principal photography on 13th September 2004 on locations across England and Wales and at Ealing Studios.

A Hitchcockian-style thriller, Moore takes on the role of Rachel Carlson a successful mystery novelist whose life is turned upside down when her beloved seven year-old son Thomas drowns. A year later, despite a multi-million dollar advance, she's still too distraught to write and her marriage to Brian (Henry Ian Cusick), an editor and struggling novelist, has disintegrated. In an effort to heal the wounds and help her start writing again, her best friend Sharon (Kate Isitt) arranges for her to rent a secluded cottage in a remote fishing village Ingonish Cove in the Scottish Highlands in the hope that Rachel will be able to heal and begin writing again.

She slowly develops a friendship with Angus McCulloch (Hans Matheson), the handsome lighthouse keeper who lives and works on the deserted island off her coast. Angus reveals that his own wife left his beloved island years before, unable to cope with the isolation. Rachel and Angus bond over their personal losses, but Angus senses the fear and guilt that keeps Rachel from fully opening her heart to him.

But events begin to unfold during her stay and rock the tranquil village. Just when she thinks her life is about to be restored, Rachel returns to the mainland and is plunged into a world of madness, murder and the supernatural that will leave her fighting for her life and sanity.

Australian-born writer/director Craig Rosenberg has written major screenplays for Steven Spielberg, Wes Craven and Art Linson, working with studios such as DreamWorks, Warner Bros, Paramount, Disney, Miramax, Sony and MGM. Most recently he adapted A TALE OF TWO SISTERS, the highest grossing local film ever released in Korea for DreamWorks Studios. Rosenberg also penned the screenplay AFTER THE SUNSET directed by Brett Ratner and starring Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayek, Woody Harrelson and Don Cheadle.
