Synopsis

A heartwarming, true story about an unbreakable bond between a University professor and his dog begins when Parker (Richard Gere) finds a lost puppy (Hachi) at his local train station. Unfortunately his wife Cate (Joan Allen) has banned him from owning another dog but his reluctance to hand the dog over to the authorities results in Parker hiding the pup in his house.

It's no surprise that Cate soon finds out. When no one claims Hachi the mystery puppy wins over Cate who accepts the pup into their family, while Parker and Hachi become increasingly inseparable and develop an inexplicable friendship.

Each morning Hachi accompanies Parker to the train station and faithfully returns to greet his master every evening in exactly the same place, at exactly the same time becoming a regular fixture of the community and an inspiration of love, friendship and unyielding loyalty to everyone who meets him.
