Synopsis
This documentary on the inspirational author Philip K Dick, born in 1928, and regarded as the godfather of modern day science fiction, died in 1982 after several strokes, but he left behind a legacy of more than fifty novels, five volumes of short stories, reams of correspondence, as well as an 8,000 page self-examination called "The Exegesis," explaining he hoped, the mystical experiences which inform his later fiction.
THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO PHILIP K DICK is a tribute to his prolific career and includes interviews from those who knew him well. He was the inspiration behind film classic TOTAL RECALL and in addition to this BLADE RUNNER, SCREAMERS and the recent movie IMPOSTOR starring Vincent D'Onofrio, Gary Sinise and Madeleine Stowe were other well known movies based on his stories. The forthcoming movie MINORITY REPORT directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise, Samantha Morton and Colin Farrell which is scheduled for release in Summer 2002, is another movie based on a short story of his.
