For years, O (Takashi Sorimachi) resides in an isolated world of killing. A disciplined perfectionist, he knows any contact with the outside world will jeopardize his life. The death of his love Nancy only adds to his loneliness.
Tok (Andy Lau), a flamboyant newcomer, fancies the thrill of killing and is driven to become the No. 1 killer. The only challenge standing in his way is O. Tok thus forces O out of seclusion by approaching his secret crush.
Chin (Kelly Lin) is O's part-time housekeeper. She has long suspected O to be a professional killer, and confirms her theory when she meets Tok. Before Chin knows it, she has become a part of this dangerous world.
Interpol agent Lee (Simon Yam) has been investigating O for years. Just when he's close to cracking the case, O vanishes altogether with Chin after a violent shootout.
Lee has a hard time letting go of the case and decides to write a book about the rivalry instead. He knows Tok is challenging O to a duel. But how can he find out who is the winner? Who is the No.1 killer? When Chin appears, she meets him for a drink and offers to tell him the outcome.
Based on Edmond Pang's novel, 'Fulltime Killer' quickly became the No.1 bestseller when it was published in 1998.FULLTIME KILLER re-teams Johnny To with his long time collaborator Wai Ka Fai (THE PEACE HOTEL, TOO MANY WAYS TO BE NO. 1) to give a gripping character drama. In the story, the two hit-men are at once enemies and friends. Despite their admiration for each other, only guns can settle the outcome.
