Synopsis

Jason (Michael Angarano), a kung-fu film fanatic is looking out for bargain DVDs in his favorite genre in Chinatown, when he comes across the legendary weapon of the Monkey King, an ancient Chinese warrior, in a pawn shop.

Weapon in hand its magical properties hurtle him back in time to ancient China where he suddenly become involved with a band of martial arts' warriors on a mission to free the imprisoned Monkey King.

Based on the original legend of The Monkey King and shot on location in China, THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM is directed by Rob Minkoff (THE HAUNTED MANSION) and sees international martial arts stars Jackie Chan and Jet Li paired together for the first time on the big screen. Renowned action choreographer Wo Ping (THE MATRIX, CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON) has been responsible for creating the fight sequences and was written by John Fusco (HIDALGO).
