Synopsis

A direct, clear-eyed look into the human soul from Turkish writer/director Zeki Demirkubuz, FATE is his accomplished fourth feature and is loosely based on Albert Camus' The Stranger. Like Mersault in the novel, the film's main protagonist Musa (Serdar Orcin) is a middle-aged man who has stepped out of the current of his own existence.

When his mother dies in her bed, Musa begins to let his life take its own course. He drifts from marriage to crime to murder, remaining impassive right up to the point of potential imprisonment. The first part of a planned trilogy, FATE is a minor masterpiece from an important director largely unknown in the UK.
