Synopsis
Jean Vereecken (Josse De Pauw) has a secret ambition to be a songwriter but in reality works in a factory. His teenage daughter Marva (Werner De Smedt) , an awkward, overweight girl, is his one hope of achieving this dream and he takes her to singing contests where she struggles to perform. Events take a turn for the worst when Jean suddenly loses his job through cutbacks at the factory where he works and this compounds the situation for him, making him even more desperate for his daughter to succeed.
By pure fluke Jean sees an opportunity and grasps it, when he meets, then kidnaps the most famous pop star in the country and holds her hostage. Demanding that the music industry take notice, the media swiftly focus on the story and with the incident now brought to the nation's attention, Jean and Marva realise that the show must go on - until everybody's famous!
